Brussels Airlines Cancellation / Delay Compensation

With the best of airlines, there are still the risks of flight delays, cancellations or denied boarding incidents. These issues happen even when passengers book their flight tickets with the most reputable airlines. These issues include oversold flight tickets, which lead to denied boarding or flight pilot/crew members lateness also affects flight delays. Underbooking or Overbooking of flight tickets may also lead to the cancellation of flights.

Some of these issues may be under the control of the airlines and some not, whereas when the airline is responsible, airlines must compensate the passengers for the inconvenience caused. Sometimes, liability may not arise because issues that lead to flight delay/cancellation were outside the control of the airline company, such as extreme bad weather conditions, safety or security issues etc.

So if your Brussels Airlines flights have been delayed/cancelled and the fault is of Brussels Airlines, you can claim compensation up to 600€ from Brussels Airlines following EC Regulation 261/2004 EU air passenger rights. You can check Brussels Airlines flight status at the airport displayed on Departure or Arrival Timetable or online on websites such as FlightStats or similar.

For Brussels Airlines (SN; SN is an IATA code for Brussels Airlines adapted from its previous company SN Brussels Airlines) flight delays of more than 3 hours on arrival; flight passengers can claim between 250€ to 600€ depending upon the distance of your flight. You can use our claim compensation calculator to check how much you can claim for your SN flight delay or cancellations.

Our claiming process is an easy way to claim delayed flight compensation, as you only need to provide us with your Brussels Airlines (SN) flight number, flight date, flight delay/cancellation reason, and your contact details to submit the claim on behalf of you. You can go back up to 3 years in Europe to claim for your delayed flight.

Brussels Airlines Flight Delays / Cancellation / Denied Boarding Problems

Brussels Airlines is the flag carrier of Belgium and is bounded by EC Regulation 261/2004 EU Air Passenger Rights, which lays down compensation norms to be followed by the airline company in case of flight delays, cancellations or denied boarding. Flight Delay Compensation can also be valid for Flight Cancellations (without notice), Re-Scheduled Flight Delay, Denied Boarding and Change of Flight. If the flight is delayed at the departure airport, passengers are entitled to “right to care” facilities in case of flight delays of more than 2 hours, which includes meals and refreshments, faxes or e-mails, two free phone calls, hotel accommodation and free transportation to the hotel (If there is an over-night flight delay or stay is required).

This takes into account the distance that you travel.

Within EU:

  1. If you travel up to 1,500 km or less, then you can claim up to 250€
  2. And over 1,500 km, you can claim up to 400€

Between EU Airport And Non-EU Airport:

  1. If you travel up to 1,500 km or less, then you can claim up to 250€
  2. If the distance is between 1,500 – 3,500 km, then you can claim up to 400€
  3. And if the distance is more than 3500 km and flight delays for more than 4 hours, then you can claim up to 600€

Note: If you are travelling to a Non-European country from a Non-European country by a European Flight, EU 261 Rule won’t apply to you. It is only applied in the case of EU based flights travelling within Europe or to or from an EU Member State.

Am I Eligible To Claim Compensation?

EC Regulation 261/2004 is a European Union Regulation. It applies to EU and Non-EU airspace. You do not have to be an EU citizen to claim flight compensation.
